Paul Masvidal's Voice Effect

The voice effect that Paul used for Focus and on stage is the Digitech Vocalist II. This particular piece of rackmount gear is a now discontinued, 5 part, intelligent voice harmonizer with a vocorder mode and full MIDI implementation that DigiTech put out around 1992. A custom patch was constructed from the portable version, called the Vocalist VHM5 which came out a year earlier. They bought the rack version for the tour and album which was triggered via keyboard to the proper pitch to match what Paul was singing by Tony Teegarden during the European tour and Dana Cosley for the U.S. tour.
